Sept. 11: Happy Birthday Miss Mamie - Safari Texas’ 8th Annual Salute to Fort Bend will honor the late Mamie George, benefactor extraordinaire to Fort Bend County. The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce State of the City Address was presented by Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen, the city ’s 10th mayor, at Sugar Creek Country Club. Hundreds of community leaders attended the event and heard upcoming plans for the city, which just celebrated its 53rd Anniversary and now is home to nearly 70,000 residents.
