“Lime green was especially popular this season, but combinations of tangerine, sunny yellow and hot red also remained strong, ” adds Bowling.  “Another benefit of classic sling furniture is that the typical tubular aluminum construction is lightweight, easy to move and often stackable, which are all pluses for poolside. ”
Adding Pizzazz Through Landscaping and Water Features
If you’re looking to add a “Wow!” factor to your pool, consider going with fiber optic lighting or some sort of water feature, such as a fountain or waterfall, suggests the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals, the world ’s largest international trade association for the swimming pool, spa and hot tub industry.
Not only are waterfalls or fountains visually stunning, they can add an auditory element to the mix. The sound of running water immediately draws the eye to the water feature, which can easily serve as the new focal point for your poolscape, especially when emphasized with fiber optic lighting.
A new landscaping design plan can also put the dazzle back into an in-ground pool.
“Landscaping goes beyond the planting of flowers and shrubs,” says Erik Hanson, principal of McDugald-Steele/ McDugald Steele Austin, LLC.
“Look at the functionality of the pool and start
there, then move outward and look at how the paving material and the terraces around the pool function, ” adds Hanson. “Can they house furniture or pots in the right setting? Are there opportunities to create a more cohesive connection back to the architectural design elements? ” Our outdoor spaces, much like our home’s interiors, work better when the main design element is carried throughout the entire space.
“There is always more than one solution to any renovation,” says Hanson.  “Everything from the selection of the plants to the placement of lights, terraces, etc., is a personal decision that should be based on a homeowner ’s individual style, personal preferences and budget.”
For some renovations, decorative pots with interesting textures and colors and a variety of plants and flowers may often be all you need for your poolscape, Hanson says.
“Lighting is another key element, which adds an extra dimension of usability and aesthetic design that is critical in a pool re-design, ” says Hanson.
Adding landscaping lighting to trees and nearby shrubs can change the ambiance and mood of your outdoor living space from daylight fun in the sun to a dramatic nighttime poolscape.
The renovation choices are myriad and completely customizable...and guaranteed to make your in-ground pool dazzle.
