The Pink Ladies are gearing up for their annual fun-filled event! The golf
tournament committee announced that this year
’s event will be held on Oct. 26 at Sugar Creek Country Club. The Pink Ladies
Golf Tournament, a 9-hole event, is a perfect way for beginners or those who
have never played, as well as seasoned golfers, to have fun and help raise
breast cancer awareness. Last year the event raised more than $40,000.
Prizes will be awarded for The Worst Score, Pinkest Teams and Most Decorated
Carts.
New to this year’s event is the Pink Tribute Garden, sponsored by Sign*A*Rama. For $25 you can
purchase a personalized Tribute Flag for a loved one to Honor the Memory,
Encourage the Fight or Celebrate the Victory. Flags will be placed in a special
area on tournament day. Deadline to order your personalized flag is Oct. 20.
Contact Barbara Rozell at 281-980-2244.
The committee is currently securing sponsorships. Raffle tickets to win a $500
Albert Luis Salon and Spa gift certificate and lunch at Town Square are now
available for purchase, three for $25. Contact Karen Awalt at

Recently, Barbara Montgomery, a Pink Ladies Committee volunteer, was recognized
for her service to the community benefiting the American Cancer Society with a
Prudential Cares Volunteer Grant. Retired or active agents can apply for the
grants, which range from $250-$5,000.
“It’s volunteering for a cause,” Montgomery said. “To me this is really important. It’s amazing how many people have had breast cancer.” Montgomery, herself a breast cancer survivor, is a lifetime member of the
American Cancer Society. Her passion for the organization stems from her
concern for friends and family members who have suffered with breast cancer.
Montgomery said that the disease has the common misconception of only affecting
older women, but there are women in their 20s, 30s and 40s who are dealing with
it. The players swing for the pinkest team, pinkest lady and sip pink
champagne.
Plan now to attend one of Fort Bend County’s most fun events! For more information on being a sponsor, donating, sponsoring
a hole or helping with the tournament, please contact Lynn Halford at
