SERVICE LEAGUE
Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital hosted a reception to honor Fort Bend Junior Service League for the generous donation FBJSL made to the hospital ’s pediatric unit with proceeds from the Charity Ball. Hosted by hospital administrators and physicans, FBJSL members and event sponsors were wined and dined as they were taken on a personal tour of the new unit that is now serving the young members of this community.

15) B.A. Bentsen, wife of the late U.S. Sen. Lloyd Bentsen, visited Brookwood Community with Anna Laura Day, a 50-year resident of Brookshire and mother to Chef Laura Day of the Caf é at Brookwood. Bentsen was in town to take part in a panel discussion with other prominent political wives who shared their personal story of life in the limelight. The group also included Annette Strake, wife of Houstonian George Strake Jr., and Andrea White, wife of Houston Mayor Bill White.

19) The Perrier clan including Chef Frederic Perrier and wife Michelle, and chefs-in-training Freddy and Lex, catered a soiree at the home of John and Diana Null for Child Advocates.
20) Bob Brown and Billy Burge greeted Sugar Land Councilwoman Jacquie Chaumette at a Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce event in her honor. Chaumette announced her candidacy for re-election among hundreds of friends and supporters.

WHO’S IN THE NEWS
21) Congratulations to long-time Sugar Land resident Joan Damon and her husband, Harold Simon, who tied the knot on Sept. 5 at a lovely ceremony held in Sugar Land. The couple met in 2008 after Harold ’s daughter, Dawn, made introductions. The couple will reside in St. Charles, Mo., as Joan works as the administrator for Dubuis Hospital of St. Louis. Both Harold and Joan have family and friends in Sugar Land and hope to move back one day. For now, Harold and Joan Damon-Simon are happy they had their family and friends gather together to help them celebrate their new beginning.
Luncheon in the Magnolia Room at Safari Texas Ranch where 10 young women vying for the title of 2009 Fair Queen were introduced. The event began with a trunk show followed by an amazing style show.
18) The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce “State of the City Address” was presented at Sugar Creek Country Club by Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen, the city ’s 10th mayor. Hundreds of community leaders attended the event including Richard Hill, Karen Vannerson and Bryan Groce with
