Walk with Pride project at the Rosenberg Payless. Exchange Club of Sugar Land members along with other service clubs members were
present at three
Payless shoe stores in Sugar Land, Rosenberg and Richmond to assist children
selected by social services to find appropriate school shoes.
Donations toward the purchase of shoes were made by local businesses and
organizations including Exchange Club of Sugar Land.

Superstar finale 2009. Ten finalists performed live on the steps of city hall in the final round of
Sugar Land Superstar, an
American Idol-like competition. After singing his rendition of Jesse McCartney’s How Do You Sleep, Nathaniel De Jesus was named the winner of the Sugar Land Superstar 2009 competition. First
runner-up was
Savannah Berry, and Renee Miura was second runner-up.
The Sugar Land community had the opportunity to support their favorite finalist
by texting in their own vote. Superstar judges were
Yolanda Green, CW 39; Craig DeSerf, general sales manager of David Taylor Cadillac; and movie critic TJ Callahan.
High Tech Texan Michael Garfield and Michele Fisher of Mix 96.5 served as emcees for the competition.

fort bend county youth rodeo
association queen named. Paige Thomas of Fulshear was named the 2009 Fort Bend County Youth Rodeo Association Queen.
She is a senior at Foster High School.
Five Contestants competed for horsemanship, appearance, interview and
personality.
Paige Salazar was the first runner up and Cody Jo Bankhead was second runner up. Julie Brae was the judge of the competition.
Paige Thomas is the 2009 Fort Bend County Youth Rodeo Association Queen.
fort bend lawyers care honors volunteer of the year. Fort Bend Lawyers Care honored Fred Krasny as the 2009 Volunteer of the Year. Krasny has assisted numerous low income Fort
Bend County residents with legal services, volunteering more than 50 hours
total as a pro bono attorney. Approximately 132 active volunteer lawyers give
their time and expertise to help others.
Fred Krasny is the Fort Bend Lawyers Care 2009 Volunteer of the Year .
Third Annual Fashions from the Cotton Patch Expo. Everyone was a winner at the third annual Fashions from the Cotton Patch Expo
held at the Bud O
’Shieles Community Center in Rosenberg. The event was hosted by Texas AgriLife
Extension Service, Fort Bend County and American Sewing Guild-Houston Chapter.
Grand prize winners included:
Amy Bowman from Alvin (Youth Division) who received a Janome Gem Platinum III sewing
machine donated by Janome Sewing Machines.
Margaret Bock from Sugar Land (Professional Division) received a sewing case donated by Susie Seed, ASG-Houston Chapter president.
Judges’ Choice winners all received an American Sewing Guild tote bag with patterns.
The winners are: Youth -
Dakota Bramble from Van Fleck; Adult - Mary Jane Wilson from Kingwood; and Professional - Nasreen Saeedi from Houston.
