Fort Bend Lifestyles & Homes November 2009

If the number of sponsors and players registering for the 14th Annual Gillman Companies Charity Golf Tournament is any indication, it will be another huge success. According to Liz Moreno with the Fort Bend County Women ’s Center, last year’s event netted over $66,000.
On Monday, Nov. 9, on the fairways of Sweetwater Country Club, festivities will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the opening of the driving range and registrations. A noon shotgun start will kick off the action, which includes a box lunch provided by McAlister ’s Deli-Rosenberg, the awards ceremony, dinner provided by Demeris Catering, and a live auction featuring George Adams as auctioneer.
All proceeds from this great golfing get-together go to help fund the Women’s Center, which assists survivors of domestic violence, including children and victims of sexual assaults. During the past 28 years, the Fort Bend County Women ’s Center has helped over 29,000 women and children find violence-free lives.  Community support like
the Gillman Companies tournament and corporate sponsor Service Group, allows the center to continue providing emergency shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, support services and educational programs.
Sponsorships and player slots are still open. Auction items are needed. Individual player fees are $150 and sponsorships range from $350 to $5,000. For full tournament information and registration, contact Rae Hoppe at 713-776-7044 or Lane Pearson at 713-857-4416. Log on to www.fortbendwomenscenter.org to download the sponsorship information. Player registrations begin at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the tournament.
This will be a great day of golf and fun events that assist a most necessary as well as worthy cause.
For more information about the center or the services it offers, call 281-494-4545. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault, call the center ’s 24-hour Hotline at 281-342-4357(HELP).
