Literacy Council of Fort Bend
County’s 2009 Wine and Music
Tales of the South Pacific event set for June 12
The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County’s 19th Annual Wine and Music is scheduled for Friday, June 12, at The Marriott Sugar Land Town Square.
The theme of this year’s event is James Michener’s Tales of the South Pacific.  Guests will be jiving to the big band music of the ‘40s. Become a boondocker and escape into the lush world of the South Pacific with a World War II military flair while sampling food from the Mess Halls and wines from The Officers ’ Clubs. Attendees will island hop from Bali Hai to Diamond Head to Espiritu Santo.
“We are thrilled to announce that John and Diana Null will be graciously serving as our honorary chairs for this event, ” stated
Brenda Bowman, LCFBC executive director. “John and Diana have generously supported the Literacy Council in numerous ways in past years and we are excited to honor them in this way. ”
“We all have so many privileges that we simply take for granted. Among these are the ability to read. If we could just imagine for a moment that we did not have this ability and what it would mean in our lives, we would realize how the many hours the volunteers and staff of the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County mean to those whose lives are enlightened and enriched. We hope that our participation helps in a small way to further the literacy cause, ” said Diana and John Null.
Don’t be A.W.O.L. for this event and miss the opportunity to relax on the islands of the South Pacific. All sponsors will have reserved seating in an island of the South Pacific.
The community is encouraged to  become a partner in the Literacy Council’s efforts to help determined adults in this county change their lives by improving reading and writing skills. With the community ’s help, the council will continue its life-changing work within the community.
