FBSO CHAMBER CONCERT in KATY
Responding to requests from Katy residents, the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra
will hold a chamber orchestra concert on Friday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Katy
’s St. Peter’s First United Methodist Church.
The chamber orchestra, consisting of strings and woodwinds, will perform a
variety of works including Mozart and Haydn including Mozart
’s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro and Haydn’s Symphony No. 82 in C major, often called the Bear Symphony.

The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, now in its 18th season, is under the direction
of H
éctor Agüero Jr. The church is located at 20775 Kingsland Boulevard, east of Westgreen
Boulevard.

Panhellenic Sorority Workshop, Scholarship Presentation
The Fort Bend County Alumnae Panhellenic is preparing for its annual Sorority
Recruitment Workshop for girls who are high school seniors or collegiates and
their parents.
It will be held at Christ Untied Methodist Church, Gathering Hall, 3300 Austin
Parkway, Sugar Land, on Saturday, March 27, from 10 a.m.-noon.
Attendees will learn about what membership in one of the 26 National Panhellenic
Conference sororities is truly about. Information will be provided to learn the
“ins, outs” and “how tos” of participating in recruitment. Current sorority members will be on hand
modeling clothes that they wore during recruitment. There will door prizes and
all attendees will receive a 2010 Recruitment Information Workbook. For those
who are unable to attend the March 27 workshop, a smaller workshop will be held
on Saturday, April 10, at Christ United Methodist Church, Room 310 from 10
a.m.-noon.
Fort Bend County Alumnae Panhellenic will announce the recipients of its
scholarship program at the March 27 workshop. A $500 scholarship will be
presented to two collegiates from the Fort Bend area who are active in their
NPC sorority, represent scholastic achievement, involvement in community and
leadership in their sorority.

Saturday, March 6, 11 a.m. -3 p.m. WATCH Health Fair: The 4th annual FBISD “Watching Your Wellness Health and Fitness Fair” for students, employees, families and the community will once again be held in
Sugar Land Town Square. Local hospitals, nonprofit groups, FBISD wellness and
student activity programs, and local municipality organizations come to the
Plaza to share information, screenings, demonstrations and showcase FBISD
students involved in programs encouraging youth physical activity to promote
healthy living. WATCH educates students about the five risk factors for
cardiovascular health: Weight, Activity, Tobacco, Cholesterol and High Blood

4th annual Stride4Stroke
5K Fun Run/Walk, March 6
Methodist Sugar Land Hospital has chosen to name its Stride4Stroke team in
memory of Art Cramer, who gave thousands of hours of dedicated service to the
hospital as a volunteer. Art suffered a stroke in January 2008 and passed away
in November 2009.
“Art is dearly missed, and we are asking all MSLH employees, family members and
friends and the Fort Bend Community to join us for the Stride4Stroke event to
help celebrate his life,
” said Janet Leatherwood, CNO.
The greater Houston area has one of the highest incidences of stroke in Texas,
and stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Aramco
Services Company is partnering with The Methodist Hospital System to raise
awareness and funds to help reduce the incidence of stroke in the greater
Houston area. Aramco Services will be the presenting sponsor for The Methodist
Hospital System
’s fourth annual Stride4Stroke 5K Walk/Run on March 6 at Rice University stadium.
