Cheryl Banks of Missouri City has earned the use of the exclusive Mary Kay pink Cadillac in
honor of her career achievements. The most coveted incentive awarded by the
company, the new Cadillac comes in pearlized pink
–a color unique to the Mary Kay Career Car Program.
Banks has chosen the Cadillac DTS, which is one of three Cadillac models
available to Mary Kay independent sales directors. Mary Kay career car
qualifiers also have the option of selecting cash compensation in lieu of the
car.
Banks began her independent Mary Kay business as an Independent Beauty
Consultant in 1993 and, as a direct result of her accomplishments, became an
Independent Sales Director in November of the same year.
Alcus Jacobs, Fort Bend ISD bus driver, earned second place in the Region IV School Bus
Road-e-o. The competition gives school bus drivers the opportunity to test
their abilities and knowledge by taking part in various tests, including a
general knowledge test, vehicle inspection test, and various driving events.
Jacobs will go on to compete in the State School Bus Road-e-o, which will be
held June 12 in Austin.
Jack MacDonald has joined the custom sales team at Sienna Plantation.
MacDonald has more than 30 years of experience in custom homes sales, including
19 years in Fort Bend
’s Pecan Grove neighborhood. He also has worked for more than 12 years for Ryko
Development.
“I love Fort Bend,” said MacDonald, who has lived in Missouri City since the 1970s. “I was at Pecan Grove from the day it opened and really enjoyed watching the
community grow and develop. I
’m excited about the opportunity to work with such a renowned developer as The
Johnson Development Corp. and in a community the size and scope of Sienna
Plantation.
”
Another enticement in joining Sienna’s team, MacDonald said, is the group of custom craftsmen building in the
community, several of whom he has known for years.
Named “Custom Sales Person of the Year” locally during the Greater Houston Builders Association’s PRISM awards and through the statewide National Sales and Marketing Council
competition, MacDonald is well-versed in the custom home construction process
and enjoys
“build jobs.”
Scott Martin has joined the Board of Trustees of Fort Bend Baptist Academy. He is the executive managing director for Granite Properties.
Scott has been in the real estate business since he graduated from SMU in 1982 with a degree in Finance. He is the past
president of NAIOP in Houston, a member of ULI and numerous other real estate
organizations. He is on the Advisory Board of Houston Christian High School and
is an Elder at First Presbyterian Church.
Lamar CISD honored more than 300 employees for their service to the children of the
community at the 2009 Employee Banquet. The employees were welcomed into the
Lamar CISD Corral by Superintendent Thomas Randle, sporting his best Western
duds in keeping with the night
’s Texas theme. Employees with 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service
were recognized and received a gift to thank them for their hard work.
Honored for 40 years of service was Adelina Mindieta. Other employees honored were: (35 years) Alane Haardt, Doris Cooper and Kathy
Meadows; (30 years) Lane Wade, Maria Villalobos, Joe Talas, Donald Clark, Kay

Norm Slosted has been appointed as Fort Bend Baptist Academy’s next superintendent. Much of Slosted’s career has been spent in the field of higher education, most recently as the
chief student affairs officer at Houston Baptist University.
In 2008, Slosted became an administrator at Fort Bend Baptist Academy. His
educational background includes a B.A. in Psychology and
M.A. in Social Science with emphasis in Student Development, both from Azusa
Pacific University. He is currently
completing his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership
Slosted will assume leadership from FBBA’s current superintendent Lesley Wyse in June 2009. Wyse leaves FBBA after 13
years as the elementary principal, and then as superintendent.
Kristin Weiss, IOM, joined Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels as the director of development in February 2009. In this capacity, Weiss is
responsible for fund development, volunteer recruitment and event planning as
well as community outreach for Fort Bend and Waller counties.
Prior to joining Fort Bend Seniors, Weiss was the vice president of operations
at the Rosenberg-Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce. In her 17-year career,
Kristin has worked at companies,
large and small, in the Houston and Fort Bend area including Memorial Hermann
Healthcare System, the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, Robert Half International
Inc. and Marion, Montgomery Inc.
In 2004, Kristin received her IOM designation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Institute for Organization Management (Institute), a four-year nonprofit
management training program at the University of Georgia in Athens. Kristin
received her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Texas A
&M University.
Brad Bowman has joined Capitol Wealth Advisors at Bank of Fort Bend as the lead wealth advisor. In this position, Bowman is responsible for
overseeing wealth management offerings and will be assisting clients to help
them achieve their financial goals by focusing on their life goals.
