Sienna Golf Club Hosts Prestigious Tours
Design of course attracts events
ith both professional and highly ranked amateur tours playing its fast-paced
greens, Sienna Plantation Golf Club is becoming one of Fort Bend
’s most well respected golf clubs.
The Arthur Hills-designed course has been host to several top tournaments during
the past 12 months, with more on the horizon. Most recently, Sienna Golf
welcomed the NCAA Great West Championship. It also has hosted the Adams Tight
Lies Tour, a professional tournament that has graduated a host of players to
the PGA Tour.
“That was a really big one for us,” said Darren Busker, general manager for Sienna Golf Club. “It’s great to see professionals playing and enjoying the course.”
Sienna Golf Club also was home to the Texas Golf Association’s regional four-ball tournament this year and hopes to be named the site for the
championship four-ball tournament next year. Plus, the club has hosted alumni
events for the University of Houston and Rice University and is the home course
for Houston Baptist University
’s golf team.
“We’re not only making a name for Sienna Plantation, but also for the Fort Bend
area,
” Busker said. “We are the only semi-private course in this area hosting these types of events
and bringing in not only top amateur players from Texas and the southwest
region of the U.S., but also professional players. It
’s good for the area’s golf industry because everybody wants to play where the professionals play.”
Busker said he hopes to bring a Southern Texas PGA event or a PGA Tour
qualifying event to Sienna, as well.
Busker credits the design of the course, which is contoured to provide dramatic
elevation changes and has a naturally wooded setting, as well as the course
’s superb turf condition, for attracting such notable events.
