he annual International Festival of Fort Bend is expected to draw nearly 10,000
to the Stafford Performing Arts Centre this fall. Volunteer event planners have
started putting many of the details in place and are seeking additional
performers and organizations to
add to the already impressive list of talent and offerings that will make this a
one-of-a-kind celebration.
Started just three years ago, the IFFB is a free, family-friendly event to be
held at the Stafford Performing Arts Centre on Oct. 17. The festival offers
attendees a one-stop, world-wide tour, giving participants an appreciation for
Fort Bend
’s diverse cultures. A variety of cuisines, multi-ethnic performances and other
activities are taking shape for the festival.
“There are about 30 ethnic groups in the area,” said Nazy Khadivian, the 2009 IFFB president. “We’re hoping to bump up our participation with even more groups—so we’re asking them to contact us as soon as possible.”
IFFB organizers are asking locals to join them in helping showcase the rich
history of the world
’s population in Fort Bend’s own back yard. Participants sought include: individual and group performers;
presenters; singers; musicians; and all those who able to perform among a cast
of accomplished talent for a spectacular, entertaining show. Exhibitors are
also welcome to participate.
