Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital has joined with The University of Texas Medical School at Houston Maternal-Fetal
Medicine division to bring diagnostic testing, genetic counseling and
specialized fetal care to Fort Bend County women with high-risk pregnancies.
Each Wednesday, a highly specialized team–composed of a physician with advanced training in maternal-fetal medicine, an
ultrasonographer and a genetic counselor
–provides care at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land. Women need a referral from an
obstetrician.
The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic is the only one of its kind in Fort Bend
County and a natural outgrowth of the hospital
’s expansion of women’s and children’s services.
“Having the UT Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic at our hospital enables us to
provide an even higher level of care to Fort Bend County women so they don
’t have to drive to the Texas Medical Center,” said Steven Weber, chief patient care officer at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land.
Among the specialized tests offered at the clinic are 3-D and 4-D comprehensive
and targeted fetal ultrasounds, amniocentesis, Doppler studies, fetal
biophysical profiles and non-stress tests.

faced by the retailer and come up with the best strategies to address them. The
teams presented their findings and were judged by a panel of faculty members
and alumni on criteria including subject knowledge, quality of their speaking
skills, teamwork and quality and use of visual aids.
Winning top honors were Marcus Northrup of Sugar Land, Yuri Curtis of Houston, Asif Kaba of Stafford and Francisco Izaguirre of Dickinson.
