Intricate moldings contrast with rich wood floors, giving the home substance and warmth. An earthy tapestry of fabrics on curtains and furniture ties the look
together with elegant chandeliers illuminating, at times, unexpected places.
The home’s entryway is grand indeed with this Steinway grand piano.  A regal fireplace anchors the library, a vision in rich wood and earthy colors.
white, black, green and pink bedding and patterned furniture in stripes and polka dots. Long shag carpeting keeps with the whimsical theme.
“At first I didn’t know about the pink walls,” says Kelli, “but my decorator said, ‘Let her have them!’ Now I think they really work for the room. She loves it.”
A much more subdued Sherwin Williams Dover White paint was the base for most of the home. Light walls provide backdrop for upholstered pieces in a mix of textures in the large family room. The Williams opted not to have a formal living room in this home.
“We’ve had them before and found that they didn’t get used,” says Kelli. To the contrary, a family library was vital. Kelli, a former English teacher, loves to read, as does her husband. “I just wanted a place to sit and read that was designed specifically for that purpose, ” she says of the room with a stately fireplace.
A formal dining space was important too. A lot of dinner parties take place here. The Williams ’s dining table easily accommodates and is in full view of the Steinway grand player piano, tucked beneath the winding staircase.
“We bought the piano because my husband and I were going to take
lessons. I’ve always wanted to play,” says Kelli. “So we started taking lessons with a teacher who came to the house. It was great. I loved it, until one day I looked over and the teacher had fallen asleep! I thought, ‘Uh oh! I must really be bad! Time to stop the lessons.’  Now I just let the piano play itself.”
But Kelli needn’t worry about her skills in the kitchen. This kitchen, in black granite and off-white subway tiles is beautiful and functional with a commercial grade cooktop and all the modern conveniences. It is Kelli ’s domain after 3 p.m. most days. “That’s my goal to be in there starting dinner by that time. I love to cook! But the fruits of my labor are in my waistline! ” she says with a laugh.
The human members of the family aren’t the only ones benefiting from this home’s fine design. Delightful canines—black lab, Missy, and two dachshunds, Grace and Gabby—have the run of the place. They can be found most afternoons napping on their doggie beds in the den.
“They are every bit as much our family,” says Kelli. “They love it here too. I’m so glad we built this house. I’ve built here twice before and was determined to build this final time. This was the final hoorah. I ’m living in
this house until they take me out in a pine box!”

A dining set from Highpoint, North Carolina, provides ample seating for dinner parties. Wedgewood Osborne china,Reed & Barton sterling silver and Gorham crystal are an elegant combination at the dining table.
This kitchen is not only beautiful, but also extremely functional for Kelli, who loves to cook.
