FBJSL Presents Checks from
2010 Sugar Plum Market Proceeds
Donations impact organizations combatting illiteracy,
abuse and domestic violence in Fort Bend
The Fort Bend Junior Service League, together with the event’s title sponsor, Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, presented $130,000 in proceeds from the 2010 Sugar Plum Market to four Fort Bend County charity organizations at the league ’s Dec. 1 meeting.
Child Advocates of Fort Bend, Fort Bend Community Partners Rainbow Room, Fort Bend County Women ’s Center and Literacy Council of Fort Bend County each received a check for $29,250.  FBJSL’s Community Assistance Fund also received a portion of the event’s proceeds.
“We are ecstatic about raising $130,000, as this is the largest amount raised from a single league event in our nine-year history, ” FBJSL President Brigit Engleman said. “FBJSL would like to thank the community for wholeheartedly supporting the market—whether as a sponsor, advertiser, donor, shopper, model, volunteer or member of the media. Collectively, we have made a significant impact towards combating critical issues facing Fort Bend County, including the abuse and neglect of children and adults, domestic violence and illiteracy. ”
CEO of Methodist Sugar Land Hospital Chris Siebenaler announced at this year’s market that the hospital will return for a third year as the 2010 title sponsor for the Sugar Plum Market.
“We are once again honored to support the Fort Bend Junior Service League and the Sugar Plum Market. Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is proud to support a great cause that benefits these local charitable organizations. We are grateful to partner with the league as they continue to do great things for the Fort Bend Community and look forward to what we can accomplish together at the 2010 market. ”
