Fort Bend Junior Service League accepted a check from Travis High School in the
amount of $750, representing the school
’s fundraising efforts to support breast cancer awareness month in October. The
league will use Travis
’ donation and that of other partnering organizations to aid the community in the
fight against breast cancer.
FBJSL has partnered with the American Cancer Society in an ongoing,
collaborative effort to provide financial support for programs and services
designed to improve quality of life, provide access to early detection and
treatment, and diminish suffering for Fort Bend County cancer patients.
Travis head athletic trainer Brandon Roberts spear-headed the fundraising
efforts on the Travis campus with the support of Raising Cane
’s Chicken Fingers in Sugar Land, as well as Travis team doctor, Dr. Timothy
Sitter, and his team at Methodist Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas in Sugar
Land. Roberts
’ efforts culminated in a sea of pink in the stands at the football games during
the month of October as teachers, fans and students sported the signature color
of breast cancer awareness.
Roberts and his team felt strongly about keeping the funds in the area. When
they learned that Methodist Sugar Land Hospital had launched a pink bracelet
campaign with FBJSL, they decided to donate their funds to the league.
