The Clements High School Athletic Booster Club’s Booster Ball and Auction will be held on Feb. 6 at Sugar Creek Country Club.
The Presenting Sponsor is Direct Energy of North America.
The sports-themed evening, “Ranger Fans Forever,” is a fun, adult night of dining and dancing with a live and silent auction.

pancakes & pajamas
The third annual Pancakes & Pajamas Children’s Festival, presented by Fort Bend Junior Service League and Texas Children’s Hospital, will be held on Feb. 6 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at The Honor Roll School,
4111 Sweetwater Blvd. in Sugar Land. This year
’s theme is Pancakes & Pajamas “Wacky Wonka and the Pancake Factory.”
Jump out of bed and wear your pajamas as you enter the magical gates to an event
that will appeal to children of all ages. The morning will be filled with
adventure and fun, including a pancake breakfast, magical make-and-take
literature and craft activities, a book fair, author appearances, games,
contests, parade, raffle and door prizes, in addition to many more wild and
wacky adventures for the entire family.
Your Golden Ticket to adventure and fun can be purchased at JoAnn’s in Sugar Land Town Square, Randall’s or contact pancakes@fbjsl.com. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door for an all-inclusive pass
including breakfast and participation in all games and activities. Children 2
and under are free.
Proceeds will benefit East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry and Fort Bend Lawyers
Care.

Girlfriends Giggle
The Fort Bend County Women’s Center and its STARS Auxiliary announced that the Title “Diamond Level” Sponsor for the 2010 Girlfriends Giggle fundraiser is cosmetic surgeon,Dr. John
LoMonaco of Houston.
“Emerald” Sponsors for the event are Sterling McCall Lexus and OYO Geospace Corporation.
Girlfriends Giggle will take place on Thursday, Feb. 4, at Fluor Corporation
’s “Diva Den” from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
“The Women’s Center assistance and programs serve a large need in Fort Bend County helping
domestic violence victims and their children achieve violence-free lifestyles
and get back on their feet. Our committee of local women has worked
passionately to build this event into Fort Bend County
’s ultimate Girls’ Night Out, all for a great cause,” says Josalyn Dean, Girlfriends Giggle co-chair.
Girlfriends Giggle, billed as a “grown-up girls’ pajama party,” is a night of local food and drinks, dancing, shopping and a variety of
indulgences to pamper guests. The 5th Annual fundraiser is presented by the
STARS Auxiliary of the Women
’s Center. Proceeds benefit the women and children served by the Fort Bend County
Women
’s Center shelter and programs.

fort bend corps hearts & hammers gala
The Fort Bend CORPS, a nonprofit corporation, was established in 1999 and has
completed home repairs on more than 1,100 homes in Fort Bend County. All
repairs are provided free of charge with no obligation. This assistance is made
possible by grants, monetary donations, in-kind donations, as well as the
tireless work of hundreds of volunteers. There is currently a 6-month waiting
list of projects within Fort Bend County.
On Friday, Feb. 5, at Safari Texas Ranch, the Fort Bend CORPS will hold its 2nd
Annual Hearts
& Hammers Gala to raise funds for the organization. Fifty percent of funds raised
will go toward a permanent CORPS office and warehouse space. The other 50
percent will go to the Hearts
& Hammers Program, which does the exterior restoration of homes.

feb. 4
Sugar Land First United Methodist announces Mary Flo Ridley from Just Say Yes!
will open the 2010
“Faith at Home” Lecture Series on Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. The series is open to the public and is free
of charge.
Ridley walks parents through a practical strategy to give children honest,
factual and age-appropriate information about sex. She emphasizes the
importance of parents being the loving authority on the subject, so that
children feel safe and comfortable coming to their parents with questions and
recognizing that they have the answers. Parents will leave this seminar
empowered to talk to their children.
Shared Dreams Toiletry
Drive, Feb. 1-5
Travis High School will hold its Shared Dreams Toiletry Drive Feb. 1 through
Feb. 5. Shared Dreams is a program that provides children in Fort Bend ISD with
clothing and items needed to attend school.
Donations of any of the following “new” items will be accepted: toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, combs,
hairbrushes, deodorant, bath soap, shower gel and socks (all sizes).
Donations can be placed in the Shared Dreams Drop Box located inside the front
entrance doors of Travis High School between 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Volunteers will also
collect items at the car drop off at the front entrance before classes begin.

beauty and the beast, feb. 4-6
Hightower High School’s Poseidon’s Playhouse will perform the well-known musical Beauty and the Beast from Feb. 4-Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. each night. Directed by Angela Andrews and Kim Ross,
Hightower Fine Arts promises an evening of beautiful scenery, melodious songs,
crafted acting and a spectacular show. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for
students.

tea party evening
of speakers, feb. 5
The Fort Bend County Tea Party is hosting an evening of speakers on Friday, Feb.
5, from 8 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at the First Colony Community Center, 3232 Austin
Pkwy., Sugar Land. Tea Party President James Ives stated,
“It is vital that the American People stand together to regain control of their
future. To this end, those from the Left, Right and Center are invited to join
and get involved.
”
Area residents are encouraged to come and meet the Party board members, learn
how to enter and affect the political system, hear how the Tea Party Movement
is expanding and how individual citizens are making a difference. Refreshments,
party merchandise, silent auction and a raffle will be available. Go to

Visit the 4 acres of Demonstration Gardens and talk to the volunteers who design
and maintain them on Feb. 6 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.

and take one of the sidewalks to the area behind the building to find the
Master Gardeners.
