John Vanderzyl, M.D., of Sugar Lakes Family Practice, P.A., caught the vision of the area and saw the benefits it could provide for his patients.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Lake Pointe community,” Vanderzyl said. “I saw the business opportunity of the area. We were the first tenants in the professional building next door to St. Luke ’s.” Vanderzyl is a founding partner of St. Luke’s Sugar Land Hospital. “There is great access to parking, retail and health care. We’re excited to have M. D. Anderson moving into the building on Sept. 1. Lake Pointe is a great place to work and live.”

“Plans of the complex here were exciting because of the outstanding quality of partners around us —the hospitals, including M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, St. Luke’s, Texas Children’s—and the community backers,” Vanderzyl said. “We can maintain our patients to a higher degree of patient satisfaction because they no longer have to travel to the medical center. This provides a great benefit to southern Fort Bend County. ”

Sugar Lakes Family Practice includes seven doctors and a physician’s assistant. A dermatologist will be added by the end of the year. Vanderzyl and his associates provide a whole range of services of primary care, traditional and non traditional. The clinic ’s focus is on prevention first, and then treating of the disease. New services include bioidentical hormone treatments and Airrosti (Applied Integration for the Rapid Recovery of Soft Tissue Injuries) for both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries .

Besides Vanderzyl, the professional staff includes John Pozzi, M.D., Julie Baldwin, P.A., Henry Mata, M.D., Nora Cantu, M.D., J. Mark Trippett, M.D., Anne Marie Ponce de Leon, M.D., and Ann Heikkinen, M.D. Vanderzyl ’s wife, Jolene, a registered dietician, also works in the clinic counseling patients about diet and exercise. “We treat illnesses of all kinds, but we prefer to prevent disease when possible, Vanderzyl said.

Kevin Rios, proprietor and sommelier, Post Oak Grill Sugar Land, doesn’t live in Lake Pointe, but his father Mario does. Mario is the president of the Post Oak Grille franchises, and together they made the decision to relocate the 16- month-old Sugar Land restaurant to the boat dock at Lake Pointe. The new building will be completed in the spring of 2010.

Although the restaurant is thriving at its current location on Hwy. 6 near Dulles Avenue, Kevin said the new location will be more advantageous to customers. “It’s on the lake; it’s a good location, and there’s more parking.” The new location will also feature a private room, bar and lounge and seating for 200+ as opposed to less than 100 in the current location. There will be live music on the patio on the weekends.

The Rios family welcomes diners to enjoy the same quality, service, freshness and atmosphere in the Post Oak Grill Sugar Land that they have come to love at the Houston grills. The grill features New American cuisine offering a dining experience infused with international flare and uptown elegance.

The new location will offer a wine cellar with all the elements to entice any wine lover. A private waterfront dining room will also be available for corporate functions and private parties. Live music will be presented in the swanky lounge. and there will be a great view of the boardwalk from the grill ’s outdoor patio.

Rios says the Post Oak Grill Sugar Land offers the best dining experience available. “Enjoy delicious grilled rainbow trout or redfish prepared to perfection and served with style. Until the waterfront location is open next spring, the Rios family invites you to catch the vision of what the new Post Oak Grill Sugar Land will be like by joining them at the current location, open M-Th, 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and F-S, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.

Certified Financial Planner Tim Hannah caught the vision of urban living and was among the first to take advantage of Lake Pointe ’s ‘live where you work’ lifestyle.

With vision and foresight, Hannah moved his office to the Towne Court Live Work community to be more accessible to his clients. “The move to Lake Pointe is a wonderful benefit to my clients, but it also offers my family the opportunity to take advantage of all the conveniences of the surrounding amenities, ” Hannah said. “It was a great real estate opportunity. Other businesses are now seeing the opportunity for growth here. ”
